Welcome to MMC Ceramics!

 Let me introduce myself…

Hi! I’m Michelle Mayumi Chinen, an artist based in Springvale, Melbourne, and a proud mom of three wonderful kids—5-year-old twins and a baby girl.

My journey with ceramics began in 2021 when my partner gifted me a pottery wheel for my birthday. That simple yet meaningful gift ignited my curiosity and led me down a path of endless discovery and creativity.

Self-taught through observation and hands-on experimentation, I’ve embraced ceramics as both an art form and a way of life. In 2023, I turned my passion into something tangible, setting up my own home studio—MMC Ceramics—where I create, sell my work, and share my love for clay through workshops. Sustainability and eco-consciousness are at the heart of my practice, allowing me to bring my values into action.

Beyond ceramics, I find joy in many forms of self-expression—music, dance, painting, sewing, acting, juggling, and even hula hooping! Outdoor adventures like surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding, bouldering climb, soccer, and capoeira excite me just as much as fixing things and gardening. While I wouldn’t call myself an expert in any one thing, I love learning and exploring new skills.

At my core, I’m a dreamer who believes in the power of self-expression, equality, and trusting that things will work out when we engage wholeheartedly.

I’d love to connect with fellow enthusiasts and hear your stories too! Feel free to message me and share your passions, beliefs, or creative journey—let’s build a community that inspires and supports one another.
